The Winter Woods Beanie is crocheted using worsted weight yarn and a size J crochet hook. The ribbed band of the hat is created first using short rows and then the body of the hat is crocheted in the round with the waffle stitch (a combination of double crochet and front post double crochet). The beanie is topped with a DIY fur pompom made from faux fur purchased at your local fabric or craft store. The finished slouchy beanie will measure approximately 9 inches from the top of the hat to the edge. The hat should fit a head circumference between 18” and 23”. A soft, light-weight worsted yarn like Lion Brand Heartland works best for this hat. Materials Size J – 6mm Crochet Hook Worsted weight (size 4) yarn, one skein Lion Brand Heartland Yarn needle for weaving in ends ¼-yard faux fur fabric (you will have plenty left over to make more pompoms) Tapestry needle with sharp point for hand-sewing faux fur Scissors or craft knife This listing is for a pattern only.
